Families still in Paradise as resort changes name

1 October 2005

ONLY the name is changing at Australia's premier family resort - the fun continues and the excitement just gets better!

The Mercure Resort Surfers Paradise will now be known as Paradise Resort Gold Coast.

The name change follows the resort's purchase by City Pacific and the expiry of hotel company Accor's management contract.

Paradise Resort Gold Coast General Manager Phil Haller said families could rest assured the resort would continue to be "heaven for kids and paradise for parents''.

"Over the past eight years, we have established an award-winning reputation as Australia's favourite family resort and we're not about to change a highly successful formula,'' Mr Haller said.

"Each year more than 15,000 families enjoy fun-filled holidays here and our high occupancy levels are testament to the fact that our facilities and services are geared unashamedly towards parents and young children.

"Our guests can look forward to the fun and excitement not only continuing, but getting better.''

All the facilities that have made Paradise Resort Gold Coast a huge hit with families will continue with the name change, and be improved.

Set amongst five acres of tropical gardens, with a huge swimming lagoon complete with waterslides as its centrepiece, the brightly-themed Paradise Resort Gold Coast is located within walking distance of Surfers Paradise beach and Cavill Mall.

The 405-room resort's popular Kids Club will become Zone 4 Kids - still the biggest and best Kids Club on the Gold Coast.

Catering for 5-12-year-olds, Zone 4 Kids is a mini fun park featuring themed play spaces including Little Town, where kids can drive pedal-powered cars around a simulated town complete with working traffic lights.

There's also Captain's Cove with its submarines and slides, and Leonardo's Painting Room where budding artists can create their masterpieces.

To allow parents to a relaxing holiday too, Zone 4 Kids offers three fully supervised sessions a day, with a host of fun-filled activities and the opportunity to meet new friends. Each day has a new theme, with Kids Club Idol and Survivor Island among the most popular.

The little ones aren't forgotten either at Paradise Resort Gold Coast, which has a dedicated child care centre, Zone 4 Kids Junior, for newborns to five-year-olds.

Parents can take time out to relax or enjoy the Gold Coast's sights and shopping, knowing the little ones are being cared for by professional staff in a fun and educational environment. Paradise Resort Gold Coast also provides a great hire service for items such as microwaves, strollers and bottle warmers.

The Adventure Playground is another exciting feature of the resort. Here, kids of all ages can burn up youthful energy in the fantasy-themed treehouse, play on slides and seesaws or tackle the giant slide.

In keeping with its kids-first philosophy, Paradise Resort Gold Coast boasts a number of Junior Bunkhouse rooms including brightly-painted bunks complete with their own TVs with Nickelodeon kids' channel, Sony Playstation, chalkboard and playdesk.

Another hotel feature is a mini-mart, Splashes, where families can buy items such as fresh fruit, cereals, milk, bread and all the holiday essentials.

Dining at Paradise Resort Gold Coast is fun, delicious and nutritious. The resort's signature buffet restaurant, Sinbads, features a fabulous selection of themed buffet dinners each night including "Tastes of the Orient'', "Taste of the Tropics" and Gourmet Pizza nights.

There's also GDs, an express deli and cafe offering low-cost meals and snacks - perfect for a relaxed poolside lunch or dinner. Or choose from the "grab it and go' menu featuring a variety of takeaway meals for casual in-room dining.

All this allows parents to relax and enjoy all that the resort has to offer, including four swimming pools, tennis and poolside massages.

Paradise Resort Gold Coast offers daily themed activities for adults and children, including kite flying on the beach, snorkelling lessons, poolside trivia and even crab races!
